I mentioned last week that I would be featuring some of the fantastic bloggers I had the pleasure of meeting at the Martha Stewart Bloggers' Night Out party and during the BlogHer Conference and I'm going to kick things off today.
I've been reading High-Heeled Foot in the Door for a while now so I was overjoyed when I met Camila, the lovely lady behind the blog, at Martha's bash. She's starting her own interior design business and her site is filled with a mix of terrific posts all topped off with a big dose of Camila's humor and charm. Some of my favorite features are Decorator's Handbook, which provides great tips on topics like how to determine how long your window treatments should be and how to pick paint, Open House, which takes you inside readers' homes (I adore this one on Julie W.), In Her Shoes, where you get to live a day-in-the-life of other bloggers, Blog Crush, which introduces you to amazing blogs you'll want to add to your reading list (I now have a huge crush on Mrs. Lilien, thanks to Camila!), and Before and Afters which as you can probably guess shows you how Camila and her handy hubby transform things from stale to stylish. Check out this tired dining set before they got their hands on it:
And after:
Impressive, right?
When I introduced myself to Camila, I gushed about a post I'd just read on High-Heeled Foot in the Door and I'm so excited that she's letting me share it with all of you.
With Gabrielle and Alaina turning two in a little more than a month, their days of sleeping in cribs are probably numbered. While I'm scared silly at the thought of the dynamic duo being able to roam freely around their room, I am looking forward to getting them beds along with adorable upholstered headboards. I *love* upholstered headboards and have about 1,000 of them bookmarked as inspiration for the day we put together their "big girl" room. So when I saw Camila's Tufted Headboard tutorial, it was right up my alley. How fabulous is this?
Take a closer look - the combination of the pattern on the yellow fabric with the polka dots on the buttons is perfection.
And you'll never ever guess what this headboard was before Camila converted it! Here's a little hint:
Look familiar? That's right - it's a crib rail! Camila and her husband picked it up off the curb in NYC and planned to use it as a trellis in their garden but when they needed something to re-purpose for the headboard, they grabbed it. It's such a great idea and one I never would have thought of on my own.
And that's not the only great tip you'll get from this tutorial - instead of using foam batting as the "filling" for the headboard (it can be pricey and hard to work with), Camila used egg crate mattress pads. Easy and inexpensive - so genius!
You only need six things to complete this entire project and if you don't tuft the headboard, you'll just need four. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
Now I know what I'll be doing with Gabrielle & Alaina's cribs when they outgrow them!
Get the full Baby Crib = Tufted Headboard How To HERE and be sure to check out the other fun features on High-Heeled Foot in the Door. I can assure you that Camila is just as delightful in person as she seems on her blog!

Blogging from BlogHer {GIVEAWAY}
I'm at BlogHer today (lucky for me it was in NYC so no commute!) and it's amazing. I've met so many wonderful women whose blogs I'll be sharing with all of you over the next few weeks, and I've gotten the chance to check out some fabulous new products that I'll be posting about soon.
Since I only have a few minutes, though, I wanted to share some of my BlogHer swag with you! One of the super fun booths I checked out was from Play-Doh. I can't wait until Gabrielle and Alaina really start playing with it because I loved Play-Doh as a kid. How fun is this Elmo Shape and Spin Playset?
And I love the Play-Doh Cake Making Station!
They gave all of use bloggers some Play-Doh scented perfume from Demeter (it smells exactly like it!) and I was also lucky enough to walk away with a Play Doh Duffel Bag.
It comes with four cans of Play Doh and 10 accessories, like a rolling pin and shape cutters, all packed into a handy travel bag.
And one lucky reader is going to win it! To enter, click this banner to cast a vote for AFOMFT on Top Baby Blogs.
Make sure you also click the "Cast Your Vote For..." graphic that comes up and then leave a comment here telling me you did. That's it! You can vote once per day per IP address so if you have more than one computer or can vote from your phone too, you can earn extra entries each day.
Please leave a separate comment for each entry and make sure to include a link to your tweet, blog post, etc. All entries must be posted on AFOMFT as a direct comment to this post. Comments on Facebook will not count as entries. This giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada and ends August 13th at 11:59 pm EST. The winner will be selected by random.org and announced on AFOMFT on August 16th. If the winner doesn't contact AFOMFT within 48 hours, a new drawing will be held so be sure to check back to see if you've won!
Oh, and one more piece of BlogHer goodness before I go - I got to have my picture taken with Bruce Jenner at the Tropicana station! He said Kourtney and Scott are still together. Yes, I had to ask!
Have a great weekend!
Martha, Martha, Martha!
I had such a blast at the Martha Stewart Bloggers' Night Out last night! The weather kept us off the roof deck but the views from the event space were still spectacular.
Walking through the MSLO offices, we got to peek into the test kitchens and rooms where all of the magic happens before arriving into a wonderland of all things Martha. There was an amazing display of wedding loveliness that made me want to get married all over again. Is having a vow renewal for a sixth anniversary too much?
And of course there were sweet treats to die for.
How fun is this Oreo cake?
The Crafts Department had so many fun toys for us to play with.
And I was so excited to meet Hannah Carpenter Milman (the goddess of crafts) who taught me how to use some of the new Martha Stewart punches.
She also showed off the Halloween line of beverage labels, which are perfect for any spooky soiree.
I met so many fantastic bloggers while I was there and really enjoyed chatting with some of the Martha peeps, like Alexis Stewart (so tall!) and Darcy Miller (so sweet!). I even caught a glimpse of Martha herself.
We were all sent home with bags filled with goodies from Martha Stewart and Kraft.
Those Martha paper punches are going to come in very handy as I start working on Gabrielle & Alaina's party!
I realized as I put this post together that I ended up taking more pictures of stuff then people (and excuse the iPhone photo quality!). I know I posed for a bunch of pictures with my fellow bloggers so if you have any, please send them my way. And a big thanks to MSLO for including me in this fun event!

Guess Where I'm Going Tomorrow Night?
Yippee! When I got my invitation to Martha Stewart's Bloggers' Night Out, I literally squealed with excitement. If you read AFOMFT regularly, you know I'm a huge Martha fan, and the opportunity to go to an event on the roof deck of her beautiful building (which I walk by all.the.time) to "mix and mingle" with her creative team and some of my other idols (*cough, Amy Atlas, cough*) is just amazing! Not to mention that some of my favorite peeps from around the Blogosphere (many of whom you've seen me post about here) will be there too, like Kim from TomKat Studio, Kate from Kate Landers Events, Brandi from Tweedle Dee Designs, Pam from Party Starters, Jennifer from The Martha Project, Elizabeth from Life of Style, Liz from Say Yes to Hoboken.... I could go on and on and on.
I'll be Tweeting from the event with the rest of the fabulous attendees so make sure you follow me on Twitter (@AFOMFT) and look for hashtag #marthablogger to follow all of the action!
If you'll also be at Martha's Bloggers' Night Out or BlogHer, leave a comment here or send me a message so we can meet up.
Now what am I going to wear???
