FAVORITE WEBSITE WEDNESDAY: 500 Pieces of Prudent Advice For My Baby Daughter

In yesterday's Ghoulish Goodies post, I included a recipe from a great blog called Prudent Baby.  It's certainly a favorite of mine, but today I'm going to feature its sister site, 500 Pieces of Prudent Advice For My Baby Daughter

Blogger Jaime is compiling what she bills as "a collection of lessons of questionable importance to share with my daughter before we grow up" and through this site, she's also sharing them with us.  Some are lessons on life, like Monday's post:
#209:  If you test people, they may fail.

Friendship, love, and family don’t hinge on any single success or failure;
you would do yourself a disservice to administer litmus tests to things as labyrinthine as love and affection.

While others, like #190, are more health-oriented:

Your period isn’t gross.
Menstruation isn’t something to be embarrassed about;
it’s just a personal experience that we discuss discreetly.
You’ll get more comfortable with it as you get older.

Some are fashion tips - #176: A wrap dress is universally flattering - and others deal with relationships:

#152: Men as a rule are not good mind readers.
Articulate your thoughts to them clearly if you want to be sure that you will be understood.
Imagine writing on a 3X5 card; short and to the point.

Some lessons must have been learned the hard way:

#115: It's not a good idea to weld while wearing tights
because the sparks will burn holes in your stockings and legs.

While others should be remembered forever:

#97: Whimsy is essential.
You are a fanciful, playful girl.
You bring back my sense of wonder about the world.
Keep that with you as long as you can.

500 Pieces of Prudent Advice For My Baby Daughter may be written for Jaime's little girl Scarlett but if you ask me, it's a must read for grown ups too.  After all, you're never too old to learn a lesson or two.
